My wife Susannah, for whom Crispin was a very well respected friend of mine, said to me so often when I faced difficult questions "What does Crispin think?" She will not have been alone in asking this. For Susannah and me and we suspect very many of those at Crispin’s memorial those four words encapsulate the man. For Crispin was indeed someone whose judgment was all of sought, respected and for those who fell short of the values he encapsulated so well, it was a judgment to be feared.
